A Montana Little League team had never made the Little League World Series before this year. That was changed by a team from the Big Sky Little League, in Billings, Montana. In the 65 years of the Little League World Series, no team from Montana had ever made it and it is fitting that the first one is from Big Sky Little League. This Little League has been a part of Billings for 50 years and has educated kids on the great game of baseball. The Northwest region has traditionally been owned by Washington teams but this year Montana finally broke through.
In their first game they face the Midwest representative from Rapid City, South Dakota. They pulled out a 6-4 win. Cole McKenzie pitched five stellar innings and also had two RBI's. Cole Kieckbush also added two RBI's. A win was a great way to start the tournament for these Montanans and they are excited for more. They have the whole city watching them. 80 or so fans filled the Petro Theatre on MSU-Billings campus to watch their hometown team. When you get that big of an audience at home for a Little League game, you know you are making a difference.
