Amazing Performance At Little League World Series

Griffin McLarty's favorite player is Justin Verlander, and boy did he pitch like his idol tonight.  In front of a record crowd at Williamsport of 41,848, McLarty struck out 12 in 6 innings and also hit a solo home run.  The Great Lakes region representative from La Grange, Kentucky beat the Mid-Atlantic representative from Clinton County, Pennsylvania, 1-0.  The Clinton County team resides only 29.5 miles from Williamsport and that was the reason for the incredible size of the crowd.

The game itself was also incredibly played.  Defensive play after defensive play was made to keep Kentucky up by one run and there wasn't a shortage of drama.  A Pennsylvania player was thrown out at the plate in the 5th and 6th innings of the game.  There also was a double that was called back because of two different calls the umpires made.  This angered the crowd and killed any momentum Pennsylvania had.  What shouldn't go unnoticed was the stellar pitching of Cole Reeder for Pennsylvania, when he pitched five innings and only gave up a single run.  The size of the crowd really enthralled the kids, though.

While being interviewed ESPN, Griffin McLarty and catcher Jackson Mason, marveled at the size of the crowd.  When Kyle Peterson stated the attendance, Jackson Mason mouthed the amount and was at a loss of words for a second.  He then wisecracked that he thought he had impressed the audience.  It was a great conclusion to a great game.
